Can I Join CPD Australia Without an AHPRA Number?

You don't need your AHPRA registration to start using CPD Australia, and we're here to support you while you're preparing for practice in Australia.

Why you might want to start now
If you're a recent graduate or international medical graduate working toward your AHPRA registration, starting your CPD journey early is genuinely worthwhile. Here's why:

Get a head start. Rather than scrambling to understand Australia's CPD landscape after registration hits, you can familiarise yourself with the requirements now. There's less stress and more confidence when you know what you're doing.

Build documented evidence. Every activity you upload becomes part of your permanent record. You can download a CPD Summary Statement of all your completed activities anytime, which you can share with potential employers. Employers recognise and value this documentation because it shows clear, verifiable evidence of your professional development. By the time you're registered, you'll already have a clean, well-organised portfolio that demonstrates your commitment to ongoing learning.

Activities count toward your first year. Any activities you complete and upload before registration will carry forward and count toward your CPD requirements, as long as you obtain AHPRA registration in the same calendar year. So the work you do now isn't wasted.

How to get started
Setting up takes seconds. When you create your account, you'll be asked for an AHPRA number. Simply enter the placeholder: MED0000000000 You can also list your intended place of work if you know it. This information is just to get your profile running and can be updated anytime once you're registered.

Updating your details later
Once you have your AHPRA number and official details, head to My Profile and update your information. It takes a minute and everything stays in place. All the activities you've already uploaded will remain on your record and continue to count toward your CPD obligations.

We're here to help
If you have questions along the way, our support team is always available. We're genuinely happy to support you as you prepare for practice in Australia. Get in contact with our team at support@cpdaustralia.org
